As 2019 is coming to a close there is still one more event that brings so much joy in my heart, CHRISTMAS! For many it is a time of giving to others, enjoying the company of close family and friends, spending time around a family meal giving thanks, and taking in the lights and sounds of holiday events throughout the area! While I enjoy all of those things as well, for me, it is a time to glorify God in the sweetest gift He could ever give to us- Jesus Christ, my Savior and King!
In addition to praising our Savior, there are some fun traditions you can also add to your calendar to bring in some holiday cheer! Other than having a little Christmas fun sporting the ugliest and gaudiest sweater creation you can find, why not also enjoy the holidays with Christmas music and a favorite classic movie or two!
MY TOP 6 ALL-TIME FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MOVIES
1. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
As soon as the holidays begin, this classic is playing in my home most days. I can't get enough of the crazy characters and who doesn't love Uncle Eddie and his squirrel chasing dog Snot, oh and don't forget Aunt Bethany!
2. Home Alone
This one always makes me cry at the very end. I just love the music and I'm a big ball of emotions anyways, but the important takeaway is that no matter how much we argue with our family or they get on our nerves, at the end of the day they are still "our family" and we love them no matter what!
A modern twist on the timeless A Christmas Carol, Bill Murray hits a home run in this sarcastic rendition of Scrooge. Put a little love in your heart!
4. A Christmas Carol (1984)
This classic tale follows Ebenzer Scrooge as he has a dramatic change of heart by experiencing the consequences of putting greed before love. There have been many remakes of the original film, especially with the new 2019 version that just debut, but my favorite is the 1984 version as I grew up watching this one every Christmas and loved the ghost of Christmas present in all his splendor and merry joy!
5. A Christmas Story
Sweet little Ralphy only wants one thing for Christmas.. how bad can it be? But the greatest Christmas memory for him will be the Chinese turkey!
6. Moscow Russia The Nutcracker Ballet
This one isn't a movie but as far back as I can remember this is something special that I look forward to every Christmas. I grew up dancing and always wanted to be a part of the Nutcracker but my dance studio never held a Christmas recital. Instead I've enjoyed The Nutcracker Ballet performed by the Charlotte Ballet several times but nothing can ever replace the original created in Moscow Russia! ENJOY!!!
Suds Me Up Buttercup has had an amazing 2019 filled with farmer's markets, local craft festivals, holiday markets, and in-person shopping experiences taking place all across North and South Carolina! I can not begin to let you know how much I appreciate everyone's support this year. It gets me super excited about what all is ahead in 2020, but until then this gal needs a much needed holiday rest! To refresh and pamper those tired feet of mine, Suds Me Up Buttercup will be taking a vacation during the following dates:
Saturday, December 21
through Sunday, December 31, 2019
Starting Wednesday, January 1, 2020 I will begin creating a NEW Product Line for 2020 that will debut in early Spring, doing website and blog updates, and of course refreshing my social media accounts with fun images and info galore to keep you excited as well about what all the new year will bring!
Until then I wish everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS with your family, friends, co-workers, and all those you love. Don't forget to spread some Christmas cheer to everyone you meet along the way and that Jesus Christ was born into this world, lived a perfect life, died as a sacrifice for our sins, and loves you so much. Come to Him this Christmas as your Lord and Savior and He will supply all your needs. It isn't about the presents under the tree but whether or not you have the only gift that matters- salvation in Jesus Christ!
