Recently I took a little road trip and came across a beautiful home in the middle of a charming little town by the name of Hiddenite, North Carolina. I've always had a soft spot for appreciating architecture combined with history. This place had everything wrapped up into one charming location, so of course I researched for more! Come to find out what I had stumbled upon is the Lucas Mansion, now the Hiddenite Heritage Center full of history, Edwardian and Victorian era furniture, and countless work from local artist and craftsmen in the area!
Each year the center host an array of events, but one special event is held each holiday season and this year they have chosen the theme "All Aboard the Holiday Express" to bring in the Christmas season! Starting today you can experience three levels of Christmas decorations, festive holiday treats, and a gift shop full of goodies sure to meet everyone's desires.
Suds Me Up Buttercup is absolutely thrilled to be chosen as one of many artist to be featured in this year's holiday gift shop at the Lucas Mansion between December 4, 2018 through January 3, 2019. You can visit the gift shop and take a tour of the home Monday - Saturday between 10:00am - 4:30pm or Saturdays from 10:00am - 3:00pm. A portion from all sales in the gift shop will not only benefit area artist who are showcasing their work, but will also go back to the Lucas Mansion to continue the tradition, heritage, and history being preserved at the Hiddenite Heritage Center!

Growing up my favorite time of year hands down is Christmas. Although I don't believe in or encourage celebrating Santa, I always looked forward to the huge holiday meal my mom would make after hours spent in the kitchen over several days. Being older I now appreciate all of her efforts and love to help her cook... at least the desserts anyhow :)
However, the best memories I have growing up are all the family traditions created with those I love the most! Getting together for the big meal, then opening one present on Christmas Eve, and of course we would always go down to the local pond to feed the ducks with bread after walking the streets to see all the buildings decorated in Christmas lights and hear worship songs lifting up our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
What family traditions did you love and remember growing up? What fun events do you do with your family now to bring in the holiday season? Here are my top 3 suggestions and of course I've added some new ones along the way where you can come visit Suds Me Up Buttercup to complete your shopping for all those loved ones in your life!
TOP 3 CHARLOTTE, NC AREA HOLIDAY EVENTS:
1. SOUTHERN CHRISTMAS SHOW
Okay I have to admit, the only reason I visit this show is for the food. I have my fave vendors already picked out and ready to visit for fudge and all kinds of dips!!! Taking place right now between November 8-18, 2018. Be sure to check out the official website at https://southernchristmasshow.com/ for hours and discounted tickets.
2. DANIEL STOWE BOTANICAL GARDENS HOLIDAY LIGHTS
This is a great event if you LOVE lights and gardens! Every year they add something new to keep you coming back, but the inviting environment always brings a smile to my face. Purchase tickets online at https://www.dsbg.org/events/garden-events/public-garden-events/holidays-at-the-garden/
3. McADENVILLE CHRISTMAS TOWN USA HOLIDAY LIGHTS
My grandparents live minutes from downtown McAdenville so this one is a Christmas tradition since I began walking, and yes, this is the place to feed the ducks... not sure if they still allow this but it's so much fun! This event holds such a dear place in my heart as my grandparent's church that they attended since they were married plays a vital part in this show with a huge sand mound featuring a nativity scene and all throughout the town you can hear the church bells playing music! A little secret though from me to you... don't stay in your car. Find a parking spot and walk the streets to get the real feel of the event. You never know what you are going to see but I promise there will be lots of people waving at you from their cars and wishing you Merry Christmas (be sure to watch the video below to see what I mean)!
And of course we can't forget all the local holiday parades taking place starting Thanksgiving Day! So where exactly can you get all your shopping done? Glad you asked, check out the events below and come see me for one-of-a-kind AND natural bath products for you and your loved ones. It's a gift they will never expect but will absolutely love and want more!
